Our Research

The Japrung Lab is at the forefront of cutting-edge research in the field of Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) biomarkers and nanosensor technology. We are dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of key NCD biomarkers, including albumin protein and non-coding RNAs, such as miRNA and long non-coding RNA. Our lab is proud to be the pioneering research group in Thailand focusing on the development of solid-state nanopore technology.

Research Focus:

  1. NCD Biomarkers: Our lab investigates the roles and functions of albumin protein and non-coding RNAs as crucial biomarkers in Non-Communicable Diseases. We aim to unravel the underlying mechanisms of these biomarkers and explore their potential applications in disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic interventions.

  2. Nanosensor Platforms: In addition to understanding the biomarkers, we develop advanced nanosensor platforms for their analysis. Our lab specializes in optical detection platforms and utilizes state-of-the-art Nanopore technology for precise and sensitive biomarker detection. By integrating nanotechnology and bioengineering, we strive to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of biomarker analysis.

  3. Solid-State Nanopore Development: Our lab takes pride in being the first research group in Thailand dedicated to the development of solid-state nanopores. We explore novel materials and fabrication techniques to create robust and highly sensitive nanopore devices. Our goal is to contribute to the advancement of nanopore technology and its applications in various scientific disciplines.

Discover a groundbreaking method for oral cancer detection, developed by PhD student Piyawat in collaboration between Japrung Lab, CAS-key lab (China), and Ramathibodi Hospital. This innovative approach combines rolling circle amplification (RCA) and graphene oxide (GO) to detect microRNAs (miRNAs) associated with oral cancer. Overcoming the limitations of low abundance and complex procedures, the technique achieves ultrasensitive detection of miRNA21 and miRNA16—key oral cancer biomarkers in saliva. Using a DNA-decorated GO sensor, the system demonstrates exceptional sensitivity and selectivity, with the potential to revolutionize early-stage oral cancer diagnosis and screening. Explore the full paper to delve into this groundbreaking research conducted by Piyawat in collaboration with Japrung Lab, CAS-key lab (China), and Ramathibodi Hospital.
